Introduction
International Eye Network(IEN)is an organization
dedicated to improving the quality of life by providing access
to some of the best health professionals and medical facilityies
in the world. We believe that good htalth is the foundation
of true happiness. IEN will provide information to enable
Japanese ophthalmologists to refer their patients to an ophthalmologist
in the U.S.A. who is qualified to perform corneal transplant
surgery and other eye procedures utilizing the most advanced
technology available in modern medicine.
Due to a shortage of donated tissue in Japan, there are currently
15,000 people on a wating list for corneal transplant surgery.
Only 1,500 corneal transplants are performed annually in Japan,
compared with 40,000 in the U.S.A. This means that the majority
of people suffering from diseased and damaged corneas will
have to wait indefinitely to undergo operations in Japan.
Hideto Saiki, a founder of IEN, was diagnosed as a candidate
for corneal transplant surgery in Tokyo in 1985. At that time
Hideto was shocked to learn he must wait four to five years
to have the surgery in Japan. Fortunately, while Hideto was
attending college in the U.S.A., he consulted with an American
ophthalmologist who informed hi he could have the surgery
in two to three weeks. Subsequently, Hideto has undergone
successful procedures in both eyes and states, "This experience
has changed my whole life." Hideto has improved vision in
both eyes and a much more positive outlook on his future.
Now, with the assistance of IEN, other Japanese patinets like
Hideto, can alleviate their pain and suffering by traveling
to the U.S.A. for corneal transplant surgeryies and other
procedures which are limited or unavailable in Japan. Most
eye procedures only require a two to three wee stay. So why
wait any longer? Ask your ophthalologist for an application
today so you can stop worring and start living.
IEN will work together with your ophthalmologist to coordinate
a schedule and prepare for your arrival. IEN is committed
to ensuring that each patient has a pleasant and comfortable
stay in the U.S. Please read the following information for
further details. We look forward to seeing you soon.
